Infant Toddler Family Day Care through the Navy Respite Program administers the following:
Professional respite care services are provided to Navy families who are enrolled in the Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP). Currently the program serves families in an eight county region of Northern Virginia.
Upon recognizing the need for such care, The Navy partnered with the National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agency (NACCRRA) to provide this benefit to several of its installations in the U.S. In cooperation with NACCRRA, ITFDC delivers the program services.
Up to 40 hours of care per month may be utilized by families who are eligible. Your eligibility is verified by calling Child Care Aware at 1-800-424-2246.
After completing a short application during a home visit, your family will be matched with an experienced, educated child care provider. Providers have degrees (some advanced) in the education and health care fields and/or many years of specific experience working with families whose children have special needs. They are selected especially for you based on the individuality of your family.
All of our providers have had comprehensive local, state, and federal background checks. They maintain certification in basic first aid and CPR. They have attended a Medication Administration Training (MAT) class and an 8 hour Child Abuse and Awareness Course. Each year, they are required to complete at least eight hours of continuing education in focus areas complementing areas of specialty.
Respite care allows families critical time to schedule appointments, meet other obligations they have or take a break knowing their children with special medical or behavioral needs are being care for by trained competent child care providers who meet the families’ unique needs. Services are free and there are no income restrictions for eligible Navy families.
